LAST SEASON'S STATISTICS.

WHEAT AND OAT YIELDS

Tho interim agricultural and pastoral statistics gazetted show that tho areas sown and the yields from them in the 1924-25 season were:—

Wheat for threshing, 166,967 acres; 5,447,168 bushels. Wheat for chaff, etc., 1092 acres; 1688 tons. Wheat not harvested, 1025 acres, fed off.

Oats for threshing, 147,325 acres; 5,700,132 bushels. Oats for chaff, etc., 308,545 acres; 507,232 tons. Oats jnot harvested, 16,280 acres, fed off. Barley for threshing, 25,116 acres; 796,728 bushels. Barley for chaff, etc., 231 acres; 384 tons. Maizo for threshing, 8596 acres; 426,195 bushels. Maizo for ensilage, 594 acres, 2407 tons. Linseed for threshing, 6671 acres; 2895 tons.

Ilyo grass, 66,722 acres; 30.340,6021b. Cocksfoot, 12,253 acres; 1,850,9991b. Potatoes, 23,179 acres; 135,961 tons. There wore 452,956 acres in turnips and 15,046 in mangels. Tho verification system discloses that the estimated yield of linseed is not likely to be reached. Probably tho final result will bo 75 per cent, of tho total named.

Tho estimated, number of horses in the Dominion at January 31 was 315,751; dairy cows, 1,320,203; total cattle. 3,500,832.

Tho sheep shorn in the 1924-25 season totalled 22,290,764 and the lambs tailed 11,467,566. Tho total number of sheep ut April .30 was 2,400,274. The pigs at January 31 totalled 438,471*.
