B^lb.), fought a 20 rounds drawn battle with Jimmy Allen (9st, 6£lb.). Although the contest wias colourless and uninteresting Purdy showed himself to be fast and clever. His punches were unconvincing, however. The crowd on two occasions counted the men out. Against a different style of boxer Purdy would make a much better showing. CONTESTS IN MELBOURNE.
