CUBA V. SPAIN MATCH. SPANIARDS WIN SINGLES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Re«l. 5.5 p.m.) HAVANA. July 4. The Davis Cup contest, Cuba v. Spain, was commenced here to-day. In the first singles Manuel Alonso (Spain) defeated Banet (Cuba), 6 —4, 6—l, 6—l, and Flaquer (Spain) defeated Paris (Cuba), 6—3, 6—3, 6-2. The winners of the rubber will meet the winners of the Canada v. Australia match.
