OBITUARY.

MRS. ANN TURNER. Mrs. Ann Tamer, whoso death has, occurred in Auckland at the age of 83; was the widow of the late Mr. T. C. f Turner, who was the first traffic inspector for the City of Auckland. She was of a bright disposition, and until the last three years enjoyed wonderful health. She is survived by three sons—Mr. T. M. Turner, of Sydney; Messrs. F. G. and J. B. A well-known resident of Dunedin, Mr. W. J. Bolt, passed away at Morningtojo. Born at Bristol in 1835, he ran away to sea at the age of 15 and for ten years was a world wanderer. During the Crimean War he was on -a vessel that conveyed hay from Alexandria, to the British camp in South Russia. He was at Calcutta during the Indian Mutinyand was a sailor on a ship conveying immigrants, to Wellington when," as the re* suit of fever on board, 35 persons died. Only two persons seized with the malady recovered, and Mr. Bolt was one of them.; Leaving the sea, Mr. Bolt worked on the Manuherikia diggings in Otago Central, but subsequently found his, way back to Bristol, and joined his father's firm. A few years later he decided to emigrate to Otago, and arrived in Dunedin in 1868. He took up land at Purakanai, and when the Taien and Peninsula Milk Supply Company was started in 1384 ha was invited to become secretary. In 1892 his duties were enlarged to include those of business manager. On several occasions he was deputed to go to Great Britain and other places abroad in furtherance of the company's interests. Ho relinguished the managership in 1908, but was a director until 1919, when he retired at the age of 83. For many years he was a director of the South Island Dairy Assc ciation. v
