In tfio House of Representatives the Treasurer, Dr. Earle Pago announced that the surplus was £4,575,478. Receipts for the year had amounted to £68,800,178, and expenditure to £66,815,853. This left an excess of receipts over revenue of £1,984,325. Almost all the estimates of the revenue had been exceeded. The postal revenue of the Commonwealth for the year ended June 30 was £10,045,000, an increase of £289,000 compared with last year. Stamps showed a decrease of £28,000, as a result of the reduction in the letter postage rate from 2d to l£d.

TASMANIAN SURPLUS.

(Rocd. 6.5 D.m.) HOBART, July 8. The State revenue for the year ended June 30 totalled £2,762,000. This is an increase of £314,000 compared with last year. The total estimated surplus i 3 •*£40,000. QUEENSLAND FINANCES. BRISBANE. July 3. The Queensland revenue returns for the financial year ended June 30 show a surplus of £16,967. COMMONWEALTH AIR FORCE. MELBOURNE. July 8. In the House of Representatives, tho Minister for Defence, Sir Neville Howse, stated that the Government intends to build complete aeroplanes to be used by tho Federal Defence Department. -
