BEAUTY AND ECONOMY.
It. is a good plan to cover your coat, and dress hangers with any odd pieces of silk you have by you. Just slip tho hook through a hole made in tho middle of tho silk, and bind round with contrasting silk or ribbon. Thus tho hangers aro made quite attractive-looking, and at the same time aro not so liable to poke tho shoulders of your frocks and coats out of shape. Delicate garments liko evening-frocks will hang bettor and keep more free from dust on covered or padded hangers. One can always buy these, of course, but they aro very quickly and cheaply made at home. Old laundry-baskets and fruit-baskets may be mado ornamental as well as useful if you treat them to a coat of gold paint. They aro better lined with some coloured silk, but if clothes or anything that matters arc to bo kept in them thoy should not bo painted on tho inside. The largo baskets aro roomy enough for almost anything, and tho smaller ones make excellent, workbaskets.
