THE ENSEMBLE.
Tito modiste has succumbed to the of the far-reaching ensemble and no hat is considered chic this season unless it contain a colour which brings it into identity with tho' dress or coat. No patchy colour effects are permitted. Different coloured borders, woven or sewn on a dress, are the only possible excuse for a different colored hat, and even then it must reproduce one of tho shades of the border. Tho trimming should not disturb tho line, which is as important in millinery as it is in dress. Paris seldom departs from the severe simplicity of a ribbon that depends for its smartness on the skill wir,h which it is tied si a simple bow or k:uot at the side, and which is perhaps the most- natural method </( introducing tho ensemble note.
