FIRST EDITIONS.
The first edition market is just about as sensitive and tricky as the wheat pits of America, says John o' London's Weekly. Recently the author whose first editions were in greatest demand was Mr. John Galsworthy. Now the pendulum has swung back, and Charles Dickens heads the poll. The name of Mr. 11. 11. Mottram-~-winner of the Hawthornden Prize with that fine war story 'The Spanish Farm'—has crept into tho list. Mr. Mottrarn, a bank clerk of Norwich, was ignored until the bigwigs of criticism took up his book.
