BILLIARDS MATCH.
FALKINER IN THE LEAD, FINAL SESSION TO-NIGHT. Tlio billiards match between the English professional/ C. Falkiner, and the New Zealandor, C. McConachy, was continued at tho Moon Motor buildings yosterday. Fine displays wore given by both players at the afternoon session, first ono and then the other being in the lead. Falkiner ran to session points with a lead of six points. Tho scores at tho conclusion of Thursday evening's play were • McConachy, in play, 13,334; Falkiner! 13,106.
McConachy, with 646 unfinished, added only six points to his fine break, tho highest of the match. However, he then put on 143 by bright, all-round play and made 93 on his next visit to tho table. Falkiner, by snappy, all-round play, quickly made a break of 157, following this with runs of 73 and 155. McConachv's next good break was ono of 158. made by delightful top-of-tablo ploy, and a littlo lator lie added 105 to hi# total. Falkiner's next break of noto was a splendid effort of 242, which included runs of nursery cannons and top-of-tablo play. McConachy replied with a 96, and soon afterward Falkiner rau to session points with a run oi 123 unfinished, tho scores then being: Falkiner, in play, 13,999; McConachy, 13,993. Tho evening sessions attracted the largest gathering to date and again play was of a high standard. Falkiner gained a lead of 327, With 123 unfinished Falkiner carried on to 169 before failing. McConachy rnado 61 on his first visit to the tablo and 145 by all-round play on his second visit. Playing with great precision, Falkiner made a break of 296 by delightful nursery cannons, receiving warm applause for his display. McConachy, who was not in his best form, added u 71 to his total, and Falkiner ran to points with 205 unfinished, tho session scores being: Falkiner, in play, 14,667; McConachy, 14,340. The best breaks wore: Falkiner, 296, 242, 169, 155, 157 and 205 unfinished; McConachy, 652, 158, 145, 143, arid 105.. The match will bo continued this afternoon and concluded this evening. The final session promises to be very exciting, for both men have a broak of over 1000 to their credit, and as they are determined players the fact that ono has a lead of 300 odd does not weigh a great deal with cither of them.
