PROBATION TERMS BROKEN. YOUNG WOMAN CAUTIONED. " She has treated the whole thing with contempt, and is a terrible woman for scheming," said the female probation officer, in referring to a young married woigan, Ida Lillian Newman, who pleaded guilty to breach of the terms of her probation, in the Police Court yesterdayf before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., and Mr. A. J. Stratford, J.P. The accused had never voluntarily complied with, any of the conditions of her release, added the probation officer. There was still £39 owing out of £43 ordered to be repaid when accused was last before, the Court in 1921 on several charges of false pretences. The case was adjourned for a month, the magistrate issuing a warring that accused would receive three months' imprisonment. unless the report was favourable on that date. i x , y Walter John Wallis was charged with drunkenness, and committing a grossly indecent act in Victoria Street. For drunkenness he was convicted and discharged, and on the other count he was fined £3, in default 7 days' imprisonment. On the application of Chief-Detective Cummings, John Da vies, aged 39, charged with issuing a valueless cheque and obtaining £3 by false pretences from George David Walter Osborn at Kihikihi, was remanded to appear at Te Awamntu on July 9. Charges of assaulting John Ramsey in Hepburn Street; on the night of June 3 were preferred against Ada Holden,' Charles Holden and William Holden. After lengthy evidence had been heard the charge against Ada Holden was dismissed, and the other two accused were erdered to pay costs.
