HAMILTON VALUATIONS.
ASSISTANCE FOR OBJECTORS THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON. Tuesday. At a special meeting of.the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce the new. borough valuatipns were discussed, and it was decided that Messrs. Bisley, Clarke, Hume, Hooker, Lowry and • Tidd be .'a committee to go into the question with those who were prepared to lodge concrete objections. The chamber offered its services to objectors- with a viewt to minimising the cost in connection with laying the matter before the Assessment Court. During the discussion Mr. J. A. Young, M.P., said an alteration was necessary in the appointment, of assessors to the Assessment Court, namely, that . those objecting should have the right to nominate their representative. •It was agreed that 'the sub-committee appointed go as a deputation- to the Borough Council to confer with \it and arrange for a suitable representative on behalf of the objectors, and that suitable names of competent persons as assessors be submitted. It was alSo decided that the matter of appointment of assessors be referred to; the secretary of the Associated Chambers asking him to interview the Minister and Valuer-General and ask for an alteration in the manner of appointments, and that representations be made for a conference' of Government .valuers, to be held with a view to arriving at a uniform set of principles in valuations. Mr. Young was also asked to take the matter up with the Minister.
