The pollution of the harbour waters and local beaches by the oil refuse discharged from steamers, was referred to at tho meeting of' the Auckland Harbour Board yesterday, when a-comriiunication 'dealing with the prevention of "the nuisance was received from the New Zealand Harbours Association. It was stated that many of the warships in the, American fleet shortly to visit Auckland were oil-burners, and that measures should be taken to ensure that there, worild be no dumping of refuse oil in the Waitemata! The chairman, MK H. R.. Mackenzie, said no doubtthe Government would take adequate precautions, as a circular from the Harbours Association had been forwarded to the Minister.
