LACE-LOVING ERA.
Judging by recent despondent remarks delivered by a 'prominent member of the trade, lace is now an unnecessary item of tho feminine wardrobe, says a writer in an exchange,, . , A woman buyer for a -firm equally famous in London, Paris and New York says there is little if any demand now for lace-trimmed garments. "The negligee, heavily trimmed with masses of lace is now as out of date as fringe-nets and bone neck supporters. "The present ago has nothing in common with the fluffy, lace-loving ear, when the sportswoman was regarded as a 'queer creature' and the woman in business not quite nice.' "Certain manufacturers aro trying to boom the all-lace evening frock, but the modern enthusiast who dances all night and 'tubes' homo in the morning much prefers the untrimmed wisp of chiffon gown that has now become a uniform among dancers. _ "Women who 'tub' their own underwear do not want laco trimming. Laundry prices arc too high .and laundresses too heavy-haruded."
