"HENPECKED" HUSBANDS.
SOCIETY'S ANNUAL OUTING. In keeping with a time-honoured custom, the members of the Ancient Order of Henpecked Husbands held their annual outing on Easter Monday. They assembled in tho secluded English .village of Luddenden, among the hills to the west of Halifax, and spent a happy time, free from any untoward incident, in feasting and rejoicing. This year's rendezvous was at St. / James' United Methodist School, and to that centre tho members were straggling in: throughout the morning, and arriving singly, in couples, and in small groups. Quite a number of women folk were seen peering out of windows, and waiting on doorsteps to greet the Knights of the ■ Apron Strings. Much good-humoured banter was indulged in, but no physical violence was attempted. Tho prevailing spirit seemed to lie one of kindljv sympathetic indulgence toward tho henpecked , ones. „iiie opening ,hymn, "I will sing the wondrous story'," was sung with a lustiness which proved that the men are at any rate strong in the wind if weak in spirit. The roll-cull hnd both its sad and pleasant features. The President's greeting to "comrades in bondage "' was feelingly expressed. ' • The new recruits were called upon to produce their credentials before being enrolled, and judging by the noise which came from the Medical Board room it was clear the the physical test this year was made particularly severe. .For hours the fun and laughter continued, and then, after a final pipe of peace, the tired but happy fellows wandered back home, there to carry on for another year their life of domestic drudgery. /
