A FIVE-MILE CHASE.
DRUNKEN LONDON MOTORIST. A five-mile police chase at midnight afLer a motorist was described at the Tottenham Police Court lately. The caso concerned Charles Counotty, aged 22, a motor driver, who was sentenced to a month's imprisonment for being drunk while in charge of a motorvan and had his license .suspended for 12 months. It was alleged that Counutty refused to stop after a collision, and drove away at a furious rate. Three policemen boarded another car and gave chase, blowing their whistles, and being joined by a score of other officers Qn bicycles and on foot. Once the police lost sight of their quarry, but saw him again coming out of a cul-de-sac. Ho circled three times round a street refuge, with the police car close behind him. Further along the road, ho ran round the pillars of a railway arch twice. He was caught by running into another cul-de-sao.
