WAGES AND OVERTIME.
INADEQUATE RECORD KEPT. COURT FINES EMPLOYER. The inspector of factories, Mr. I\ C. Weenink, prosecuted A. J. Bell, photographic printer (Mr. Beckerleg), in the Police Court yesterday for failing to keep a wages and overtime book in the prescribed form, and with employing a boy under 16 without having a certificate of fitness. Mr. Weenink stated tho defendant possessed a wages and overtime book but tho actual hours of employment were not entered. A warning letter had been sent in respect of an exactly similar offence committed a year ago, and the depaitnient looked. upon its continuance as .serious. . Mr. Beckerleg said the defendant had not understood the requirements of the department. Tho employees were well paid and received every consideration. The magistrate stated the offence was a serious one, because defendant had received a warning from the department. A fine of £6 was imposed. In respect of 11 in failure, to obtain a certificate of fitness defendant was fined £l.
