THE ROTARY CLUB.

DISTRICT GOVERNORSHIP. APPLICATION TO HEADQUARTERS The weekly luncheon gathering of the Auckland Rotary Club was held yesterday, Mr. J. F. Ewen presiding. Among the guests were Mr. H. S. Dettmann, of Sydney, and Mr. W. L. Chapman, who extended greetings from the Wellington Rotary Club. Messrs. A. T. E. Lang ford, general manager of the Pacific Cable Board, and J. Hutchinson, were admitted to membership of the club. The question of district governorship was introduced by the Hon. George Fowlds, who said that as New Zealand now had 13 Rotary Clubs an application for governorship would be welcomed by Rotary International. It had been decided that each club should vote upon the question at the last meeting in May, and he therefore moved a resolution that the Auckland Rotary Club approve of immediate application being made for the organisation of a New Zealand district of Rotary International, and that a cablegram be forwarded to headquarters asking that cfl'ect be given to this request. The, resolution was seconded by Mr. C. Rhodes, who expressed a hope that all the other New Zealand clubs would support the proposal when it came before them. The motion was carried unanimously. The speaker for the day was Professor C. R. Knight, who delivered an address on " Architecture and Commerce."
