PETS IN PARIS.
Paris usually has the knack of evolving something out of the common in the way of pets. Even where the dog holds the chief position, he has to be a special dog, even a specially coloured one. Last year little dogs were tinted to tone in with a dress or a fur. This year the many natural-coloured furs have demanded natural-:oiotired dogs to inatc i. The pomt of such a combination is that a woman goes out to tea or to'see a picture showin what is apparently a red fox fur. Suddenly the "head" or other portion of quasi-fox anatomy begins to move, and a little dog looks out of the fur and barks at another little dog which is also busy matching bis mistress's cuffs, says an exchange. The flog must not only be of a certain colour, but he must be the smallest possible dog. Pekinese, the smallest possible, of course, arc standard products. For red fox fur tho smallest of Pomeranians are used. These have now been bred so small that when they go for walks at the end of a bright blue or can de nil silk cord children call after them "Sontils vrais ?" or declare that they are really squirrels. As a matter of fact, they are about the. size of squirrels, and they have the highest soprano voice of all the Poms. With the curious black and white striped furs, the marmoset has been found to tone best. His chirping may be heard at the dress shows and other public entertainments, and sometimes he creates a sensation by suddenly leaping from his mistress a-id rvlining up the curtain. I sually he wears a very smart little harness m red or orange, and his mistress takes a gtape or two with which to keep him employed. Perhaps the most original pet which has boon seen in Paris lately is a seal. He lives in the Champs Elysees. sits up to meals, laughs arid talks, and would be perfect did he not, insist on growing.
