Mr. H Landon Smith was a passeneei by tho Maheno from Sydney. Dr. Whiteside has taken up his dntiej as house surgeon at King George V. Ha» pital, Rotorua. Mr. G. L. Reese, of Chrislchurch. and Mr. 0. Dry den, of Wellington, are &| the Royal Hotel. Mr. J. A. Arthur, stationmaster al Paeroa, has been appointed to a similaj position at Taihape. Major E. E. Husey, of London, Mr. H, Amos, of Wellington, and Mr. F. T. Kelly, of Hastings, are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. J. D. Holmes, of Wellington, and Messrs. J. B. Young, and E. R. Moss, o| Grcymouth, are at the Star Hotel. Mr. W. M. O'Hara, of Java, arrived bv the Marama, on a visit to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. O'Hara, Wharepoa. Mr. W. F. Jacob, of Feilding, who has been on a visit to Auckland, left for tha South by tho Main Trunk express last evening. Mr. A. Brown, of Wellington, Mr. and Mrs. B. Kingdon, of New Plymouth, and Mr. J. Fyke, of Gisborne, arc at tho Hotel Cargen, Mr. Justice Reed will leave for Wellington to-morrow evening, to attend tUa sittings of the Court of Appeal. Mrs, Reed will accompany him. Mr. K. S. Williams. M.P., for Bay of Plenty, left for I'aihia. Bay of Islands, yesterday morning, accompanied by Mrs. and Miss Williams. Sir F. Truby King and Dr. Gray, ot Nelson, arrived from Wellington yesterday morning, and left for the South by the Main Trunk express last evening. Mr. W. C. Wentwortb. and Mr. G, Went worth, of Sydney, who have been fishing at Tokaanu, arrived from Rotorua yesterday, and are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. J. ('. Ward, of Sheffield, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hough, of England, and Mr. and Mrs. S. Harold Pim, of Dublin, are at the Grand Hotel. Archdeacon H. W. Williams, of Waiapu, accompanied by Mrs. Williams and their daughter, left for Tauranga by the Matangi last evening, en route foi; Gisborne. The Hon. F. H. Phippcn. K.C., and Mrs. Phippen, of Toronto, Canada, who have been visiting Rotorua, reached Auckland yesterday afternoon, and are at tho Grand Hotel. Viscount Ivnollys, who arrived from England on Tuesday, left for Rotorua yesterday morning. He will return to Auckland in time to join the Aorangi for Vancouver on Tuesday. Messrs. R, T. McQnade. of New Ply mouth, G. Elliot, of Hastings, P. Dun« can, of Cbristciurcb. G. Burn, of Fendalton, and N. D. Wilson and L. Jackson, of Hamilton, are at the Star Hotel. Mr. R. J. Lea Wright, superintendent of the Eastern Extension Telegraph Company at Wellington, is under notice of transfer to take charge of the company's office at Sydney. He will be succeeded by Mr. M E. F. Airey, who is now on 'is wny !'> Wellington from Hongkong, where he was in charge of the company's station. Messrs. Wright and Airey ara well known in business circles throughout New Zealand, as each has had a period of control at tho company's old station at Cable Bay, Nelson.
