MOUNT ROSKILL AFFAIRS.
DOMINION ROAD FORMATION. THE CITY BUS SERVICE. Hie Mount Roskill Road Hoard met last evening, the chairman, Mr. C. E. Tansley. presiding. There were also present : Mc\-r\ E. .T. Herd, J. If. Cooper, K, Brewer, S, Scarborough and ,T. J. Preston. A committee consisting of the chairman, with Messrs. Herd and Preston, was appointed to wait oil the Ono Tree Hill Road Board in regard to a difficulty which has arisen in carrying out the sanitary service in Pah Road, with power to make temporary arrangements, pending completion of the board's drainage scheme. The chairman stated that this will be in three or four months, according to the estimate, of the board's engineers. Following a communication from the Roskill West Ratepayers' Association, in regard to a reduction in fire insurance premiums, it was decided to arrange an interview with the fire board, to secure a more effective lire fighting service, after which a reduction in premiums will be urged upon the interests concerned. The acting engineer is to prepare an estimate for repairing llaig Avenue, and in the meantime the road will be closed. A deputation consisting of the whole board is to wait upon the Tramways Committee of the City Council regarding the bus service to the district. In accordance with notice of motion the chairman moved thai, the engineer be instructed to prepare plans, with estimates of the cost, for the complete formation of that part of Dominion Road within the district. Mr. Tansley said this would be a big work, necessitating a loan, but there was not much prospect of getting either I ram* or buses until the levels were altered and the necessary retaining walls built. The motion was carried. Mr. Preston suggested in addition that the deputation to wait on the City Council might be able to ascertain what possibilities there, are of the tram service being extended along the road, as that would materially alter the form in which it would be advisable to construct it. Mr. To?.cr : poke for a deputation representing residents in the neighbourhood. asking for temporary repairs to be effected in the meantime, and an assurance, was given that this would bo done. To provide interest and other charges oil the loan of £4BOO for laying water mains along Richardson Road. Parish of Titirangi. The clerk reported that of a general j rate of 1)6886 payable for 1924 2. r >, £5200 had already been collected. With regard to the water account, members evinced pleasure at the clerk's report that a. debit balance of ,0200 had been turned into a- credit of .WOO, and it was at once suggested that this foreshadowed an early reduction in the price of water. The building inspector reported that, j during the past fortnight, permits had i been issued for seven dwellings and various additions, of a total value of (17450.
