While Mr. Barnard, the air pilot, who figured as a prominent witness in the Christmas Eve Croydon smash, was flying with the air mail to I'aris he saw a barque foundering in the. Channel. A gale was blowing, and Barnard sent a wireless telephone message to the Grisnez lifeboatmen, who were able to rescue the. crew. On two previous occasions Mr, Barnard s wireless telephone has saved distressed crews.
