Poynton, S.M., in tho Police Court yesterday, to Leonard Bennett, aged 36 (Mr. Fraer), charged with being drank, assaulting Frank Turner, and procuring liquor while prohibited. "I will do that," was accused's ready reply. Sergeant Rowel I stated Bennett became, noisy in a Newmarket hotel, and struck Turner who remonstrated with him. Turner's top set of falso teeth, valued at L 8 Bs, had been broken. Mr. Fraer said there had been something in the nature of a brawl in the hotel, and most of the blame had fallen on accused. Sergeant Rovvell: Bennett has been prohibited four times, and will not, keep away from drink. In fining accused £1 for drunkenness, and convicting and ordering him ffr come up for sentence when called upon within 12 months, for broach of his prohibition order, tho magistrate warned him be would be sent to Roto Roa Island for two years if he did not stop drinking and failed to hand his wages to his wife. Ho was also ordered to make good the damage caused to the false teeth.
