SELECTION ANNOUNCED. ONLY TWO AUCKLANDERS. DACRE AND ROUNTREE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CmiISTCHUKCH. Monday. The following team has been selected to represent Mew Zealand against the Victorians in the first test match Worker, Dickenson and Alloo (Otago), Blunt, Mcßeth arid Patrick (Canterbury). Hiddleston, Dempster, Collins, and McGirr (Wellington). Dacro and Rountreo (Auckland). The selection committee will decide upon a twelfth man later. If a bowler drops out he will be replaced by another bowler.
The selection committee recommends Patrick as captain.

A new time-table for test matches, based on Australian practice, is notified bv the New Zealand Cricket Association. 'I he conditions, as set out in a. letter before tho Management Committee of the Wellington Cricket Association last evening, were;— "Play in tho first test match to extend over four days, commencing each day r,t 12 noon, luncheon between 1.30 and 2.15, afternoon tea from 4 to 4.15, stumps to be drawn at 6 p.m., except on tin.: last day, which will close at 5 p.m. to allow players to catch the ferry steamer. If an innings closes between 3 and 4 p.m. no afternoon tea aljournment. and drawing of stumps may take place if a wicket falls within five minutes of the stipulated time.
"The groundkeeper to roll tho wicket for 20 minutes prior to. the commencement of each day's plry. and if rain falls during the progress of the match the groundkeeper shall, if, in his opinion, rolling shall improve tho wicket. roll the same for ten minutes at tho close of a day's play, but. before midnight. "The choice of umpires shall be mutually arranged between visiting teams and the council."
The Victorians leave the question of covering tiie wicket to the judgment of the council.
PERFORMANCES TO DATE. DOMINION'S FINE SHOWING. THE LEADING INDIVIDUALS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WELLINGTON. Monday. That hope lies in the future of New Zealand cricket is shown by the result of tho matches played tomato by provincial teams against the Victorians. The match against Southland was won by Victoria by " ten wickets, Victoria 188 and none for 42; Southland, 162 and 67. The match against Otago was drawn. Victoria, 281 and five for 89; Otago, 171 and two for 272 (declared). The match against Canterbury was also drawn, Victoria, 232 and seven for 448; Canterbury, 426. Victoria "followed on." The match against Wellington was won by Wellington by 1.9 runs, Wellington. 209 and 217; Victoria, 190 and 217.
Notable batting performances against the Victorians to date arc:—Worker (Otago), 121 not. out: Patrick (Canterbury), 96; Oliver (Canterbury), 91; Cox (Canterbury), 82; Banks (Wellington), 76; A. Alloo (Otago), 71 not out; Shepherd (Otago). 60 not out; Dempster (Wellington), 57; Poole (Southland). 54. In bowling: Brice (Wellington) took nine wickets for .136, Badcock (Wellington), nine for 141; Dickinson (Otago). seven for 119; Sherriffs (Southland), five for 37.
