MATCH AGAINST N.S.W. VISITORS SCORE 626 RUNS. . HOME TEAM 164 FOR ONE. By Telegraph—Press Association Copyright. (Received 11.25 p.m.) A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Feb. 23. The weather was fine and hot when play in the cricket match, England v. New South Wales, was resumed this morning. Hcndren (22)' and Gilligan (11), the not-out men, continued England's first innings. The wicket again favoured tho batsmen and gave little assistance to tho bowlers. The outfield was good. Hcndren carried on attractively. He reached his 50 after having batted for 70 minutes. Gilligan was clean bowled by Scott when he had added 7 to his over-night score. Chapman, who followed his captain, played aggressively all-round the wicket, and but for the good outfielding his (28) would have been much larger. He hit five fours. The board showed 500 after 363 minutes' play. Heridren reached his century when ho had been in 135 minutes. He and his partners did not hurry themselves between the wickets and allowed many singles to go altogether. Hcndren was finally caught and bowled by Kippax. He had gone in to bat when the board showed a total of 338, and he played a sterling and chanceless innings, lasting 192 minutes. His score (165) included 14 fours. Seven wickets were down for 592 and nine for 599. Tho last wicket added 27 runs. The innings had occupied 441 minutes. Tho most productive partnership was that of Sandham and Woolley (202). 1 The New South Wales fielding was patchy, but Morgan distinguished himself in the outfield. Collins made frequent changes in the bowling, but was unable to prevent the Englishmen from reaching the highest total of the season. New South Wales' first innings commenced brightly. The opening pair, Collins and Morgan, hit out strongly, and the score mounted rapidly. The first hour's play yielded 80 runs. Collins was lucky. Several times he skied the ball just out of the fieldsmen's reach. Freeman was not effective with tho ball, but Kilner and Tyldesley kept the runs down. When 'the score was 124 Andrews was dropped by Hendrcn in the long field. Collins readied his century in 122 minutes. The English fielding left very little opening for extras, and all the runs had to be earned. When stumps were drawn Now South Wales had lost one wicket for 164 runs.
