w ' BAND'S NEW INSTRUMENTS. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN COIUtESPONDENT. ] TE AROHA. Friday. The new set of cTass A Booscy instruments for the To Aroha Municipal Band were formerly handed over to the ft andmaster, Mr. Buehan, by tho Mayor, Mr. R. Coulter, "who bore tribute to the work done by the members of the committee in raising the necessary funds, with particular reference to Mrs. Gordon. By registering the band as an incorporated society they had been able to save customs duty, reducing the amount of £BOO to £620. The Borough Council, trustees of tho old instruments, had agreed to let these go as part payment for the newset, and 11ad given a further £BO. The money still required to pay for the instruments amounted to £320. Mr. W. C. Kennedy, member of the Piako County Council, denies a report that he intends to contest a seat at the next general election in the interests of the Country Party. About 3000 cows arc to be inoculated against contagious mammitis in the Elstow and Eastport Road districts. This means about three-fourths of the dairy cows in the districts named.
