COMPLAINT ABOUT NOISE.
THE CITY COUNCIL'S BUSES* DISTURBING TO OLD PEOPLE. A complaint that the motor-buses owned by the City Council were causing noisa arid damage wan contained in a petition from 3.56 residents of Richmond, which was presented by Mr- J. A. C. A Hum to tha meeting of the council last evening. It was alleged the buses, by reason of their weight and the fact that they were fitted with solid tyres, were disturbing tha rest of old people and children/ crockery and fittings were being broken in dwellings fronting the road, and foundations of nouses were oven being damaged. It was stated the position would not be improved until the road was concreted, and it was .suggested that in the meantime the position could be relieved by fitting the buses witb pneumatic tyres. The petition, which caused some amusemeat among members, was referred to the Tramways Committee for consideration and report.
