FIRE IN FLAX SWAMP.
SUPREME COURT ACTION. For the third day ir. succession Mr. Justice Reed and a jury of twelve were engaged in the Supreme Court yesterday in hearing the action in which John Endean, Auckland, hotel proprietor (Messrs. Lcary and Jacka), claimed £1332 4s 6d damages from W. F. North, draper, Paoroa (Mr. Tuck). Plaintiff alleged tho fire started on defendant's property and spread to his flax swamp, on which a flax mi 1.1 was in operation. Sixteen witnesses in all were examined, a.nd after counsel had addressed tho jury His Honor deferred his summing up.
