FALSE DECLARATION.
LEGITIMACY OF A CHILD, COMMITTAL FOR SENTENCE. [by telegraph.—peess association.] PALATEILSTO-N' NORTH. We'd ncaday. In the Police Court to-day & young man, publication ox whoso nanjo v.-as forbidden, pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence on a charge that, at Wellington, he wilfully made a false statement tor the pin pose of being inserted in the register of the book of births that he had been lawfully married to the mother of his child at London. The police stated that accused was a married man, and his wife was living in t'ngland. For some time past he had been living, in Wellington with a single woman, who gave birth to a child. In making the false declaration, accused stated that the 3 (other of the child was his wife.
