inmate of infirmary, SERVED IN ROYAL ENGINEERS. ALL FACULTIES RETAINED. An inmate of tho Auckland Infirmary has reached tho age of 100. He entered the homo last June, and has been confined to his bod ever since. The old man has retained all his faculties, and ho can hear, see, and talk with ease. He was born in England in 1825, ten years after the Battle of Water- 1 100, and in the reign of George IV. Little of the old man's early life is known, but he once belonged to the Royal Engineers. He has been in New Zealand for 62 years, and in the early days fought in the Maori Wars as a member of the irregular troops. Later he worked at gum digging and other occupations. For 10 or 15 years before entering the Infirmary ho resided in the Henderson district.
