It is believed that Turkey doe:-; not intend to attack Greece, but is merely displaying force as a prelude to the negotiations in connection with the expulsion of the Greek Patriarch, ATTITUDE OF BRITAIN. PATRIARCH'S EXPULSION. MUTUAL ADJUSTMENT MATTER. LONDON. Feb. 10. In the House of Lords the Archbishop of Canterbury drew attention to the expulsion of the Greek Patriarch by the Turks. He challenged the view that other nations did not possess the right to intervene. Marquess Cur/,on explained that the Patriarch, as a Turkish official, must be approved by Turkey, which country had complained to the Lausanne Conference that the Patriarch had been engaged in political activities. The conference agreed that the Patriarch's functions should be wholly spiritual. Britain was of the opinion that it was a matter for mutual adjustment. She was ready to co-oper-ate with the Allies in order to influence a solution.
