MOUNT ALBERT AFFAIRS.
Sir, —One would think from the letters of some correspondents that to join the city is the only way to become proficient in civic affairs. I think as a rule we get just the sort of administration that we deserve. If the residents of Mount Albert took a lively and enthusiastic interest in the affairs of our borough, we would soon have an improvement in its administration It is to me significant that only the least important tilings are complained of, as the treatment of rubbish tins, etc- The mightier alrairs, the treatment of the roads, the regard for the dignity or welfare of the residents, are passed by unnoticed. If your councillors felt that they had behind them the interest and support of their electors, if they knew that their actions were followed with intelligence, and that they would be criticised for their part in the affairs of Mount. Albert, there would soon be a different state of administration. There are many improvements quite obvious that would cost little or even save money, which are overlooked because we do not take any interest in our borough. Instead of being submerged into the city, let us be proud of our borough and spare a little time from the pursuit of wealth to enrich our district. We could have the prettiest and most efficient suburb of Auckland if we would only take an interest in it. L. B. Wiatt. Mountain Road, Mount Albert.
