WAR OFFICER'S FUNERAL.
LATE MR. ASHLEY COUPER. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON Monday. A semi-military funeral was yesterday accorded the remains of Mr. Frederick Gordon Ashley Couper, whose death occurred on Saturday. Mr. Couper served with the 16th Waikato Regiment during the warj when he held the rank of captain. A gun carriage and firing party- were not.available, but the casket, covered with the Union Jack, and bearing Mr. Couper'3 emblems of rank, was borne to the grave by six returned soldiers of the regiment. Thd "Last Post" was 'sounded by Lieut. W. Allen, who was regimental bugler at the landing of the 16th Waikato Regiment 00 OaUipoli. The burial service was conducted by Archdeacon E. M. Cowie.
