MENTAL PATIENTS.
TREATMENT IN ENGLAND. NEW REGULATIONS FRAMED. A. and N.Z. LONDON. Feb. IS. Recent, criticisms regarding the administration of drugs to, and the ill-treat-ment of, patients in mental hospitals, have resulted in new regulations being framed. These forbid the use in such institutions of mechanical means of restraint except simple strait jackets, gloves, or towels tied over beds. The regulations emphasise that patients under restraint must never be left unattended. They also provide that medicines administered to patients must be recorded in a special book.
