EXODUS FROM CANADA.
UNITED STATES PREFERRED. SOME FAVOUR ANNEXATION. A. and NX OTTAWA, Feb. IS. An imporant discussion took place in the Dominion House of Commons on the question of bow Canada might end the rush of ber best young men and women to take positions in the LTnited States. Dr. Manion, formerly a Minister in the Federal Government, said conditions were so bad in some Canadian cities that there was talk of either the breaking up of tho confederation of Canada or her annexation by the United States. "Nonsense!" interrupted the Hon. James Murdock. Dr. Maniori insisted that the exodus to the United States was draining the best people of Canada away. A prominent business man had informed him that i£ a vote were taken on annexation in a certain part of the Dominion it would bo carried. The business man had said: " I am a Canadian first and last and all tba time, but in some of the prairie provinces there is a widespread feeling in favour of annexation/' Mr. Murdoci said the tariff policy was the bane, of the country.
