SOLDIERS' HARD BATTLE.
GALLS FOR ASSISTANCE. OTACO PATRIOTIC FUND. [by telegraph.—press association.] DUNEDIN. Monday. .At the quarterly meeting of the executive of the Otago Patriotic Association, a report of a sub-committee showed that during the first , nine months of last year grants and allowances to returned, soldiers totalled £2BOO, or £SOO more than in the corresponding period, of the previous year. This was attributed to a large number breaking down after battling hard for many years.
