CAPSIZE OF A YACHT.
PLIGHT OF THREE YOUTHS. TWO-MILE SWIM ASHORE, ONE SUFFERING FROM CRAMP. PREVIOUS NIGHT !N OPEN. [et telegraph.—own correspondent. ] TAURANGA. Monday. Three youths had a trying experience in the western portion of the harbour on Saturday and Sunday. They left Tauranga in a 16-foot sailing boat on Saturday afternoon about three o'clock and went as far as Motuboa Island- When they attemped to make the return journey they could not do so, as the wind and tide were against them. They landed at To Puna Point and slept under a tree, using the sail of the boat as protection against the rain, which was falling heavily. They had neither blankets nor food. They set out again on the homeward trip about five o'clock on Snnday morning, but the condition were against the little craft and she capsized, throwing all the occupants into the water. The boat was partly submerged and the yonths struck out for the shore, which was about two miles away. All three conk] swim, but one was seized with cramp. His mates helped him and after a long and arduous struggle all reached land at Te Puna. Mr. Heke Bidois gave the youths food and clothes and drove them into Tanranga. The boat was recovered later. Two of the lads are none the worse for their experience but the third is confined to bed.
