AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE, The tone of the Auckland SJiaremarket yesterday was quiet. There -was general inquiry for Government War Loans, sellers quoting the 1938 issue at £97 ss, buyers £97, an advance of 2s 6d on tho day. Soldiers' Bonds were wanted at £IOO 10s, and later at £IOO 12s 6d, sellers £lOl. Three issues of Inscribed Stock wore quoted without attracting buyers. In local body debentures two transactions were recorded in Auckland Harbours, 5£ per cent., at £95 10s. The 6 per cent, debentures were inquired for at £lO2. In banks buyers of New Zealands offered 52s 6d or 3d less than on Saturday, sellers being revealed at 53s 3d. National of New Zealand sellers quoted £6 17s without response. There was inquiry for New South Wales at £4l, no sellers quoting. In Insurance New Zealand buyers were steady at 30s 6d, sellers abating 3d to 31s. South British buyers and sellers moved nearer to an accommodation, the market closing at 46s 9d and 47s 9d, against 46s 6d and 48s on Saturday. . In gas the demand for Aucklands was weaker at 24s 6d, sellers 24s lOd. The contributing issue was unchanged at 5s 3d and 5s Bd. In shipping Huddart-Parkers were dona at 45s 6d, more being wanteo at 455, sellers 465. The contributing issue of Northern Steams changed hands at Bs, the market closing at 7s lOd and 8s od. In timber. Kauris had sale at 32s od, there being late offers at 325, sellers, not quoting. In miscellaneous Colonial Sugars had inquiry at £4B without response. Buyers of New Zealand Breweries opened at *32s and later advanced to 345, but no sellers responded. Wilson's Cements were done at 30s 6d, more being available at 31s, buyers 30s 3d. In mining,_ Kawarau sellers eased 6d on the day without attracting offers. Waihis were unchanged at 25s 6d and 265. The following sales took place: —Auckland Harbour Board, 5j per cent, debentures, £95 10s; Huddart-Parker shipping, 45s 6d; Northern Steamship (con.), 8s; Kauri Timber, 32s 6d; Wilson's Cement, 30s 6d.
