MOUNT ALBERT AFFAIRS.
Sir, —In letters published during ■ the last few days, statements aro made that imitation for the amalgamation of Mount Albert with the city has emanated from Edendale. In fairness to Edendale, allow me to say that representations from all portions of the borough in favour of this proposal bave been made to my association. The Mount Albert Ratepayers and Residents' Association merely asks:— (1) Tnat an opportunity be extended to ratepayers and electors of this district to indicate whether they are; favourable to the amalgamation;' (2) that correspondents would quote only statements from actual facts; (3} that ail personal feeling be obliterated and the contest allowed to proceed untainted with any bitterness. That the Mount Albert Ratepayers' Association is attempting to brag discredit upon the present council is not in accordance with the facts. This question is one of policy and on which every elector is entitled to hold his own opinion. Reg. E. Combes, Hon. Sec. Mount Albert Ratepayers' and Residents' Association.
