AUSTRALIA AND CANADA. DISCUSSION OF TREATY. DR. PAGE AT , OTTAWA. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received 8 p.m.) A. and N.Z. OTTAWA. Feb. 0. The Australian Federal Treasurer, Dr. Earl Page, has arrived hero to discuss tho trade treaty and to inquire into the currency question. He spent tho morning with the Acting-Minister for Finance, Mr. J. A. Eobb. Dr. Page afterwards said: "The treaty is a beginning, not finality. I would not say it is entirely satisfactory to Australia, but at all events it has been sanctioned outside Parliament. The next step needs to be taken at Ottawa." Asked if any modification of the treaty would be proposed, Dr. Pago replied: J "Not by us. Wo have already rcsanc- ; tioned it." i Dr. Page, in the course of a hurried ■ interview, expressed favour with the | treaty as a step in the direction of more substantial inter-Imperial trade. He will Ibe extensively entertained during his visit, and will bo given a scat on the floor of the House of Commons.
