SPORT IN THE NORTH.
SOUNDER BASIS DESIRED. LISTS OF DEFAULTERS. With the object of placing sport on a sounder basis than at present obtains a meeting of secretaries of athletic sports organisations throughout the North has been held at Kamo. The matter of defaulting nominators, was discussed and it was decided that secretaries should exchange lists and that «o competitor should be permitted to compete until all fees du-c were paid. In regard to the vexed question of handicappers, it was agreed to try to appoint an official handicappcr for chopping and another for running events for all sports gatherings in the North. This is a measure designed to frustrate "ringing in." Although an effort to form a North Auckland Sports Union had been abandoned. chiefly on account of opposition from the Northern Wairoa, it lias been decided to again discuss the "matter among delegates from all clubs in the Marsden electorate. A defaulters' list from Kaikohe was presented. All present decided to assist in suppressing the practice of sending pominaiions .without, enclosing fees*
