RESTFUL SLEEP.

To cultivate beauty, the sleep must bo restful, the body must be in a comfortable position, and it must' relax, an effort must be made to let the musclo "go some people even when they consider they are resting are far too, stiff. 'The face, especially, must relax. All unpleasant thoughts must be banished as far as it is possiblo, and the power of concentrating the thoughts on happy subjects must bo cultivated. The hour before sleep counts for so much as to how the night's rest willbenefit the body, as well as how soou sleep will come. The question is often asked, "Is a hotwater bottle harmful?" for many women use one ten months out of the twelve. It is . better to use ono than to have cold feet all night, but bed socks are better still; cold feet are apt to give a worn look to the face. The furniture must be chosen with an eye to preventing dust accumulating. Polished boards and rugs are hotter than a carpet for this purpose, and curtains and all covers should be washable. Fortunately curtains of any description, as bedfurnishing, are practically extinct; it is absolutely important that there is nothing to hinder the circulation of air around, under, and over the bed. The position of the bed is very important,; it should stand out about "a foot from the wall at the head, and, if in a corner, at the side as well. Tho head should never bo placed in a deep recess.' Tho position of tho door and window must govern its exact situation. Unless the blinds are really light proof (and many of the pretty modern ones are not) tho bed must not face the light; if it does, the eyes may suffer and it may cause lines to form upori the face, because if. awakened by a strong light the face will unconsciously bo puckered up.
