MENACE TO MOTORISTS.
TYRES WIUFOLLY DAMAGED.
MAN ADMITS TWO CHARGES.
REQUEST FOR BAIL REFUSED.
"For some considerable time past the tyres of motor-cars parked in the city streets have been punctured with a sharp instrument, and as a result this man was kept under observation and arrested," said Chief-Detective Ctimmings, when James Robert Blakely, aged 45, appeared before Messrs. D. C. Fraser, and L. S. Rickerby, J.P.'s, in the Police Court, on Wednesday. Accused pleaded guilty to having wilfully damaged three motor tyres on November 3, and two on December 23, of a total value of £2, the property of Harry Courtney. Mr. Cummings, in asking for a remand until next Wednesday, said accused was a menace to society, and further charges were pending. He opposed accused s application for bail on the grounds that men of his type could not be allowed at huge during the holidays. Accused was remanded until Wednesday, bail being refused.
