NELSON STREET BUILDING.
"NO NEED FOR ALARM."
Parents who may have been disturbed by the report, of Superintendent Wilson, of the Auckland Fire Brigade, with regard to the inadequacy of exit facilities at. Nelson Street School, will bo reassured to know that i::i ' lie opinion of the chairman of the Education Board, Mr. A. Burns, thero is no ground for apprehension on this score
Mr. Burns yesterday expressed himself as greatly surprised to read Superintendent Wilson's report. "The board is always willing to receive suggest.'ons from the superintendent, and values his great experience," said Mr. Burns, "hut in the present case, I think he has unduly alarmed the parents of pupils attending our schools."
The chairman added that instructions had already been issued to the board's architect to have alterations to the Nelson Street School made according to the superintendent's suggestions, not becauso of anv special risk involved, but because n lender had "already been let for the painting, and it was considered wise to make these structural alterations before tho painting was done. The old school was erected in 1878, and was to be renovated during the corning holidays.
