English eleven to play Australia in the first test match, which is to commence at Sydney on Friday, has been selected. It will conipriso tho following players: —Gilligan (captain), Hobbs, Sutcliffe, Hendren. Chapman, Hearne, Woolley, Tate, Freeman, Strudwick, Sandham. The match between the Englishmen and the Australian Juniors' team was concluded to-day. England in their first innings made 319 runs for five wickets and declared. Hobbs scored 114, Sutcliffe 68, Hendren 54 and Sandham 31 not out. The Juniors in their second innings made 93 lor seven wickets. M. A. Noble compiled 41 not out. The match was drawn.

The Australian eleven for the first test match will comprise the following play eis:—Collins (captain), Bardsley, Gregory, Mailey, Old field, Hendry, Ponsford. Kellaway, A. Richardson, V. Richardso.i, Taylor, Andrews (twelfth man). Five test matches are to be played. The second will commence at Melbourne on January 1, the third at Adelaide on January 16, the fourth at Melbourne on February 13, and the last one at Sydney on March 1.
