TWO MATCHES IN THE SOUTH.

The Auckland representative cricket team to play Canterbury and Otago for the PJunket Shield at Christmas and New Year respectively, has been selected. The Hawke Cup try-out, Manawatu v. Waira.ra.pa, opened yesterday at Palraerston and concluded to-day, led to a rather re markable result. Manawatu concluded their innings this morning for 353 i'Porrin 31, Burke 55. Gallichan 51. Donaldson 43). Wairarapa collapsed on a bowlers' wickel. making only 44. and following on with only jG. Hope, a promising fast bowler, secured the phenomenal average of seven wickets for 17 runs and two for 0, and Harrison three for 2 and three for 15. Manawatu won by an innings and 253 runs.
