BUILDING UPWARDS.

MEW YORK " SKY-SCRAPER."'

AN 88-STOREY STRUCTURE.

(Beceived 11.55 p.m.)

Heiiter. NEW YORK. Dec. 9. New York's right to the title of " the city of sky-scrapers," will not be disputed for some time to come if the proposed 88-storey office building is erected on Lower Broadway. The fact that such a building is contemplated is vouched for by the same architect who designed the 51-st.orey Woolworth Building, which is at present the tallest office structure in the world. , The architect states that tests will be niado shortly to determine the extent to which the Woolworth Builuing is swayed by heavy gales. The purpose of these tests is to ascertain the practicability o.C an 38-storey building. If it shouid.be proved practicable it will be built. The exact location of the new " skyscraper " has not been fixed, but it is presumed from the general location that it will be near enough to the Woolworth Building to overshadow it.
