BUILDING BY-LAW BROKEN.
CASE FROM ST. HELIERS.
INSPECTION BY THE COURT.
A warning to prospective builders was Involved in the prosecution of Thomas Wilson Scott (Mr. McLiver) by the Tamaki Road Board (Mr. Newberry), in the Police Court yesterday, before Mr. J. W. Poynton. S.M.. arid Messrs. F. J. H. EUisdon and W. J. Potter. .T.P.'s. Defendant denied a charge of having used, in the construction of a building, material with measurements other than those provided by the board's bylaw.
Mr. Newberry said defendant -was fretting a house at St. Heliers Bay. He had used in an external wall studs measuring 4in. by 2in. instead of the. regulation studs. 4in. by 3ir,. Counsel further alleged that jackstuds beneath the house were not properly spaced. Mr. McLiver denied the latter allegation, and asserted the wall was not external, as it was defendant's intention to add to the building. The Court adjourned to view the building and on resuming imposed a fine of £5 and costs, £3 10s. Mr. Poynton remarking that by-laws must be complied with.
