CHRISTMAS APPEAL.
Sir,— festive ; f..w>n is ntnr approaching; onco again o «?k assistance for the aged, the siok • iicl the destitute of the city. We have gono through our lists, leaving off any who wo think might manage without our assistance. There still remain 297 homes, and tho list ig not yet complete. Jt is a big item to put even one pound of butter "in 300 parcels. There is the widow with her little , children to support; the home where the husband is permanently sick, unable to help himself, much less provide for his family; and the deserted wives who are left to face the battle of life alone. All are grateful for Christmas cheer in the way of toys or food. Although the parcels contain plain, wholesome food, with only a few delicacies, wo assure you that they are much appreciated by our poor. We often wish our subscribers could hear somo of the aged expressing their gratitude for the Christmas cheer, which von have so generously helped us to send 'for Bo many years. We mako our appeal a matter of special prayer; therefore wo have faith to believe that the poor arid sick will not be forgotten by those whom, the Lord hath prospered. \ Sister Esther.
