THE THREE YEARS' CONTRACT
ADVANTAGES TO DOMINION.
[By TELEGRAPH —TRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Discussing the new contract made with respect to the carriage of refrigerated produce, Mr. J. S. Jessep, vice-chairman of ♦he New Zealand Meat Producers' Board, said he considered it very wise, in the interests of the Dominion, to make a contract for the next three years. (i "The prices arranged," he continued, place this Dominion in comparatively .u rather better position thin we occupied in pre-war years—that is, as compared with the Argentine, our main competitor. I am strongly of opinion that we should concentrate now on efficiency and regularity of the shipping service from •New Zealand to England. A last and regular service car. only be carried out by shipping fleets able to thoroughly cope with trade, and it is of paramount importance that we should do every-tn-ng wo possibly can to reduce the time between New Zealand and her markets. This can be done by giving snipping companies a contract for three years, thus enabling the companies to wake their plans to provide vessels for this trade, which will cut down time.
