ELECTRIC POWER BOARD.
SUPPLY FOR NEW LYNN.
PREPARATION OF LICENSE.
The Auckland Electric Power Board met yesterday, the chairman, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, presiding.
The Minister for Public Works, acknowledging the board's letter regarding a temporary supply in tho New Lynn area, stated he was having a draft license prepared, which would be submitted to the board for consideration before being gazetted. He suggested that any actual expenditure in the area should be deferred until,the final terms of tho license wero approved. "
The board in committee received the Minister's letter and decided to ask him when the license was likely tg be ready, as the industries in New Lynn were urging it for power.
In reply to a petition asking that power be made available in Avondale Road, it was resolved to notify the petitioners that the road was beyond the scope of the present transformers, and that the area would be considered in its turn.
The chief engineer, Mr. R. H. Bart ley, reported the connection, during the week, of two, underground and 97 overhead services and tbo erection of five service poles. The now distributor in Queen Street, representing 1203 ft. of cable for the week, was finished as far as Durham Street. Extension work was proceeding apace in Mount • Eden, Morningside, Mount Albert, Avondale, Te Papapa, Otahuhu, and Onehunga, and 17 street lights were now working on the Heine Bay-Hobson Street section.
